“Woman, Behold Thy Son, Behold Thy Mother”

John 19: 26-27

Let it be known that the word of God has its distinct difference as it is said in John 6:63. The spirit gives life and the FLESH is of no use at all, the words I have spoken unto you bring God’s life giving spirit. These words of the Lord Jesus Christ offer to us SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS, as stated in Matthew 7:28-29

“When Jesus finished saying these things; the crowd was amazed at the way He taught. He wasn’t like the teachers of the law, instead He taught with authority.”

His words at the cross was widely known by all Christians as the 3rd saying John 19:26-27

“Jesus saw His mother and the disciples He loved standing there; so He said to His mother, ‘here is your son.’ then He said to His disciple, ‘she is your mother.’ From that time the disciple

Christ entrusted His disciple to their mother and their mother to a disciple. The message that Christ wanted to elaborate is in Isaiah 49:15,

“So the Lord answers, ‘Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you.”

The mother’s instinct feeling of affection as their responsibility will lead to a safekeeping of her son and the son’s responsibility as well. In our time this is one of the important attribute that most people are unaware because of the evil days.

“Remember that there will be perilous times in the last days. People will be selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited; they will be insulting, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and irreligious.”

Acts of evil deceit and wickedness, disrespect of children to their parents; evil’s deceit and wickedness, disrespect of children to their parents; showing insincere love as the scripture says in Matthew 24:12,

“Such will be the spread of evil that many people’s love will grow cold.”

The Lord Jesus Christ’s message at the cross as the Third Saying reminds mother and children’s righteous relationship being responsible with each other. Mother’s responsibilities to their children (I Timothy 3:11-12).

Women must also of Good Character and must not gossip, they must be sober and honest in everything and be able to manage their children and family well. Specifically as mentioned in Ephesians 6:4,

“Parents do not treat your children in such a way to make them angry. Instead, raise them with Christian disciple and instructions.”

A mother as a parent; it is your responsibility. Children are also given advice in Ephesians 6:1-2, “Children, it is your Christian duty to obey your parents, for this is the right thing to do. Respect your father and mother,” is the first commandment that has a promise added. The spoken words of Jesus Christ while struggling at the cross that pertain to his disciple also mean as in John 21:16

A second time Jesus said to him “Simon son of John, do you really love me?” “Yes Lord,” he answered, “You know that I love you.” Jesus said to him “take care of my sheep.”

Here, sheep are entrusted by the Lord Jesus Christ to Simon Peter and the ‘sheep’ is the church.  In Acts 20:28,

“So keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock which the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be shepherds of the church of God which He made His own thru the blood of His son.”

The flock; the sheep are those who follow  the Lord’s command which refers to the woman persecuted by the dragon. In Revelation 12:17,

“The dragon was furious with the woman and went off to fight against the rest of descendants, all those who obey God’s Commandments and are fruitful to the truth revealed by Jesus.”

The “woman” is the “church” undoubtedly this is the church that has been entrusted by the Lord to the Son; His disciple. “Who is this disciple that the Lord refers to?” The Apostle, chosen from the disciple, therefore the Church is surely shepherd or under the care of the Apostle. Eventually we can say that the church not headed by the apostle as a disciple is surely not a true church and without any relation to the Lord; being called by the Lord Himself in John 10:26

“But you will not believe, for you are not my sheep”

They are not really the Lord’s sheep because they are not in the true church, so they will surely perished, but the sheep in the flock (the church) will inherit everlasting life as stated in John 10:28

“I give them eternal life and they shall never die. No one can snatch them away from me.”

The true church is always in the hands of the Lord. In John 10:29,

“What my Father has given me is greater than everything, and no one can snatch them away from the Father’s care.”

They have been entrusted by the Lord to His disciple; the Apostle.
