The birth of Jesus Christ in a specific sense is to build a kingdom. The Bible says that God;

 “first showed us His concern taking from the Gentiles a people for Himself” – Acts 15:14

It is very significant to note that the apostles to the Jews (Galatians 2:7) was declaring these to the Jewish believers, who were aware and at this point in time still believe that they were the (only) people of God (John 4:22). It never occurred in their minds that God would ever call and form a nation for Himself made up of all men, “from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

The concept of a new kingdom aside from Israel was a hidden mystery to the Jews. Even the prophets missed in the “prophetic visions” about the church. They only saw the “sufferings and glories that would follow” of the Messiah (1 Peter 1:11). To them, the death of Christ will be followed by the 1000 year or the millennium reign of Christ. With this truth in mind we will understand the question of the apostles after the resurrection of Christ,

 “Lord are at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” – Acts 1:6

The apostles knew that the 69th week of Daniel has been fulfilled. The Messiah or “The Anointed One” has been ‘cut off’ (Daniel 9:26).It will therefore a matter of seven year or the 70th week which is the Great Tribulation. After which the kingdom will be restore to Israel. Notice the answer of the Lord,

 “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put His own power”- Acts 1:7

Their ignorance about the 70th week was not their own fault. But rather it is a divine plan. It was not for the early apostles to know because it does not concerns them. They did not see that before the restoration of the kingdom whose king is no other than the Son of God Himself, Jesus Christ. This the very reason why He was born. He was born a King (Matthew 2:2)

But where is the kingdom of God on earth now?

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus taught us to pray that His “kingdom come” to us (Matthew 6:10). He announced in the beginning of His preaching that the “kingdom of God is near” (Mark 1:15). His many parables were about the kingdom of God. He told Nicodemus how to enter this kingdom (John 3:3-5).

Certainly, this must be the kingdom of God on earth now. There must be a people which could be called God’s kingdom as was in Israel in the Old Testament.

The Bible tells about that there were people from all nations purchased or brought by His blood.These purchased people were made the kingdom for God’s service (Revelations 1:5-6; 5:9). According to (Acts 20:28), these characteristics points to the Church of God.

The CHURCH therefore is the KINGDOM OF GOD under the kingship of the Anointed One who was born a King.In (Matthew 16:18), the Lord declared, “I will build my Church.” This was fulfilled in the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came as promised. It was at this time when the Church as a baby was given life through the Spirit (Colossians 1:18; James 2:26).

It was then that the Church was the temple of God where the Holy Spirit indwelt (Ephesians 2:21-22). And as God’s flock (Acts 20:28) all of them was gathered in one place (Acts 2:1).So it was that God’s kingdom was set in place with CHRIST as the Head and King ruling thru the Holy Spirit by His apostles. And the Lord continued on building His church by

 “adding daily to the church those that were being saved” – Acts 2:47

The kingdom of God is likened to a field and vineyard. Paul said,

“Ye are God’s field” (1 Corinthians 3:9). As it was so in now God’s field are always in want of more laborers (Matthew 9:37).

The Lord is still building His kingdom now. He needs workers and laborers. Would you allow Him to use you? Would you present your body, your talent, wealth, your strength, education to be used of God to build His kingdom? Would you be a kingdom builder for God? Yield to the call of the Spirit before its too late.
